New routines – think smart

In the 45 days I stayed at the temple I got a new routines like meditation, yoga, supplements, diet , walking a lot and low-stress lifestyle, which I really need to keep going.

It’s so easy to implement new habits and routines, while living in a protected world like the temple, where everything is based on having these healthy habits. Sticking to them outside in the real world is a challenge.

Practically  it’s challenging since I’ve got a steady place to live yet here in Sydney. Therefore every day is filled with a massive amount of new impressions, new people and using a lot of the time on the process of getting settled. Keeping up the new routines will be a lot easier when I get a steady place, where I’ve my stuff around me and easy to access. Until then I just have to do the best I can.

The easiest thing to do is the supplements and the food (here in Bondi there are healthy food stores all over the place). The yoga has become the greatest challenge since I need space and peaceful surroundings, but now I’ve a mat so on dry days I can go to the roof of the hostel or the beach to practice. The meditation has been a challenge, but this morning I went for a walk in the rain and put on my theta wave music – that worked wonders – just like using it in the evening just before bed time.

When I get my “own” space (probably a shared flat or a room) – my morning routine takes about 1 hour beside breakfast and personal stuff. Yes I’ll have to get up early in general, but that is not a problem for me.  I need access to a good kitchen, refrigerator, live close to organic stores, hot water washer, not waste too much time on transportation and be able to get early to bed (quiet place). I really hope to live in walking distance to the school maybe 15-20 minutes so I’ve some walking Incorporated in my day. Why do it the hard way if you can do it the smart way ;).

I don’t know about you guys but it’s possible, but it takes effort and smart thinking. Getting as much as possible incorperated in the daily routine so it also frees time to the fun stuff 🙂

I know I’ve to do this because the benefits make a huge difference in my life and I might actually get a life free of any symptoms from my dyspraxia. Again it’s about smart thinking and long term thinking in this case long term isn’t that long since I already experiences a huge difference from before I stayed at the temple. 🙂

Later on I can add more like trigger point and starting studying in the evening beside work but first I’ve to make the foundation for my new life work. It’s like building a house. If the foundation is solid and good the house will last and will be easy to maintain 🙂

 

Home is where the heart is

I’m back and I felt so at home already in the airport of Sydney.

I’d chosen to take a night flight because it was cheap but even though I’d three seats to my disposal I got very little sleep. Therefore I’ve used two days to try and get into sync again 😀 but I’m here and I’ll stay now for 5-6 months and this is so wonderful.

The first day I went for a walk to Bondi Beach to get some food and I was recognized by the store owner from Bitebox. That felt amazing to get waved at, get a good talk and get a box with meat and vegetables. Then I went to the neighbour shop my favorite and got a fresh made melon juice. After that I went right down to the beach and just sat there and ate.

Guys I’m home 😀 it’s funny how many people say that their place/house/four walls are their home. For me it’s where my heart is and Bondi is where my heart is and no matter where I’ll end up living Bondi is my home and I’m a Bondi girl 🙂

And to make it even more adventurous while I was eating all hell broke loose for the lifeguards and they had to save two teenagers in very bad shape and they did as usual an amazing job. Most of it I know from the news because I’ll never join the ring of death unless it’s somebody I know getting saved.

In these days I stay at a hostel close to the beach so when I go to the roof top I get an amazing view over the ocean.  One of these days when the weather is good I’ll go up there and do some whale watching.

I’m using my days on getting settled and getting ready for school which starts Monday at 9 am. Therefore I’ve been shopping a little – looking at places to stay – looking at job agencies – making my CV – you know all the boring stuff 😀

Tonight I’ll reward myself and get food from my favorite restaurant and the best thing is it’s big portions of quality food for cheap money.

 

 

 

Day 4 and 5 Kyoto

I had to do a lot of the boring stuff like washing clothes and pack so my luggage didn’t weigh to much *yarn* 😀 It actually turned out to be quite a challenge since I’d almost 50 kg luggage when I arrived to Kyoto (some was food too) and had to reduce it to 37 kg. I’d to leave some stuff behind I wasn’t happy about but the world is still working 😉 As soon as that was done I left for Arashiyama in the western outskirt of Kyoto just by the foot of a mountain.

I was lucky again that JR-railway had a train out there so ones again my JR pass gave me a free ride. It took about 30 minutes to get there from the center of Kyoto.

First I went to the zen temple Tenryu-ji  and it had some spectacular temple rooms and an amazing zen-garden really to die for but unfortunately this clearly was a money machine for them in a way that made me leave without having seen it all. Every little thing cost and I prefer to buy a ticket and then I’ve access to it all. I don’t mind paying the price but when you for “every step” you take have to pay more I get irritated. In all a very beautiful place but I’ve seen more beautiful temples than this in Kyoto.

The Bamboo grove was just at the end of the Tenryu-ji famous garden and I came for the bamboo forest and I loved it. I love bamboos and even in rain weather it was still amazing.

On the way back I went through the shopping area and walked the bridge to the other side to get some interesting pictures and it was really lovely. It’s a tourist street but in the cute country way.

I had one of those clumsy days so I managed to poke several people with my umbrella 😀 fortunately Japanese are very polite and the tourists didn’t say anything 😀

I also managed to see the imperial palace and to my huge surprise the out door area around the castle was open to the public. It was so interesting to be inside the wall and get a glimpse of the lifestyle. The biggest surprise was that it was free in spite of all the staff they had on the place. Even without entrance to the castle it had been amazing just seeing the garden around.

Day 3 – Unforgettable Kyoto

This became one of those days I’ll never forget. Before I left the studio I rent I manifested to meet people who would help me out.

My day started with quite a rush because I’d to send postcards and a parcel before the guided tour in Kyoto started at 10.

The walking tour around Kyoto is 5 hours and I had it recommended from Daniela (an amazing lady staying at the retreat). This tour was really amazing and the guide knew so much about the city. We saw the mother ship of temples, different shrines, a fan shop, a candy shop (it’s art here), the building where Nintendo started and much more. It was so worth the money.

We were 10 people on the tour and I met a couple on their honeymoon and the lady was a surgeon and suddenly she began to ask questions and I got some really important help according to my health. I learned that a social health system is good if you have things that is “normal” but if you are a little outside the box the American system is much better.

Beside that I met Shigeco on the tour – an amazing local lady – she was on the tour to learn about her own city. She asked me after the tour if I wanted to spend time with her and then she helped me get a second hand kimono in the old fashion traditional colours. The best of all is that second hands kimonos looks like new but cost so little. Then she used several hours on guiding me around in the area around Gion and I saw some amazing shrines, the Kiemizu-deta temple and walked in some old streets. One of the shrines was for relationships and I had to walk with closed eyes from one stone to another without help and I did it. Therefore I now should have my loved one heading in my direction 🙂

I’d planned to take the evening tour around Gion with the Walk Kyoto but I lost track of time with Shigeco so instead I went to  the light festival at the Shimogamo Shrine and it was so mind blowing walking though the forest towards the shrine and all the trees was coloured by light while a soft music from singing balls surrounded me.

Then I headed back to the studio to eat -but I can tell you my feet hurt like hell after a 12 hours with just a few breaks, but it was all worth it 🙂

Day 1 and 2 Kyoto – the old days and a major achievement

Yesterday I took the Shinkansen to Kyoto and I love riding trains especially the super express trains here in  Japan. Since there was promised heavy rain I took a cap and was surprised in the good way just under 700 yen for a 10 minutes drive. Amazing.

I got installed in my studio with my own kitchen and a top modern place with my own washer and the shower is also a tub and a dryer.

Since I only have 4 whole days here I went to the Gion district just 10 minutes walk from here and walked the streets with the old houses and a huge amount of shrines. A lot of the locals wore the traditional kimonos and that made the whole experience so authentic.

Back at the guesthouse I enjoyed to have my own kitchen and afterwards I made my own onsen with the tub, epsom salt and essential oils.

Today I went to take a Kyoto walk but I’d forgotten to read the whole brochure and therefore I didn’t know that the tour only was on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. OK that shouldn’t ruin my day so I took the train to Inari and hiked to the top of Fushimi with all the orange gates. It was 37 degrees Celsius and still I walked in a good pace all the way up and down with no short cuts. My legs was shaking on most of the way down but I walked and I did it. For me this was  a major achievement since I couldn’t sit and walk back in 2011.

After I found a cat cafe in Inari where I’d go. I just had to try it. The cats wasn’t that social but I found one that wasn’t sleeping. It was fund though.

Back in Kyoto I went up in the Kyoto tower to see the city from above and it was amazing because several places the sun broke though the sky as huge beams.

After that it was grocery shopping and back to my studio.

 

Day 4+5 in Tokyo – ninja training + a surprising offer

It’s some intense days and day 4 in Tokyo I’d to take it easy because I was exhausted and had been invited to a Ninja Restaurant by Hiro a friend from Tokyo.

Since I’d to be out of the hotel each day between 10 and 17 I chose to go and sit in Starbucks by the famous crossing in Shibuya. It turned out to be a really good choice since it was heavy rain (typhoon). When I arrived to Shibuya station several staff members was shouting a lot in japanese and a lot of staff members was trying to keep the water away from the platform so nobody slipped. Down under by a few doors they used sandbags to keep the water out of an office. People was wet and there were a lot of umbrellas around in the few bins there were.

After starbucks I went to one of the biggest shopping centers a few stations away and bought a rain poncho because the umbrella wasn’t much help any way. On the way back to Nihombashi where I stayed the train was stopped because of the typhoon. Fortunately most of the way from Tokyo station to the hotel is under ground and there were nobody in the streets but under ground it was so crowded.

Still the typhoon wasn’t worse than a nice little storm in Denmark – Nothing we would be alarmed about.

Back at the hotel at 17 I got in at last and hurried with a bath and nice clothes and then I met Hiro in the lobby. So wonderful to meet an old friend again. He took me to a Ninja restaurant where we was put into ninja practice with passwords, signs, magic, amazing food and staff. It’s a long time ago I had such an amazing evening where I could talk about everything.

The next day – my last day in Tokyo I wanted to take a boat to Asakusa but the typhoon was still on so no boats. Therefore I chose to go to Ueno Park and had a wonderful afternoon until my sandals gave in but it was a good place because there was a market just by the station and I found some light shoes instead.

On the way back to the train station a very well dressed man stopped me and gave me a magazine. It looked very innocent outside with some Japanese text on and a pack of cleenex. Back at the hotel I used google translate to read the text and there I got a surprise because it was advertisement on sexual massages for women. I must admit that is the first time I got that kind of offers and since I was staying at a capsule hotel I’d no private life so late in the evening I sneaked out to the bin and trashed it packed into another magazine 😀

 

Let me present: Pierre Black

IMG_6690This unique fellow (the guy in the picture with the hat) has in just a few weeks made a major impact on my life.

I’d now idea about who Pierre Black was before I arrived at the Zen Retreat at the temple near Kozaki. Pierre is a naturapath specialised in diet, CST (cranial sacral therapy) and energy work. This guy is interested in the scientific researched angle. Nutrition wise he uses a mix of ayurvetic and Chinese medicin combined with genetics so he makes a diet that is realistic to follow and which takes you native habits in consideration.
He has a very direct approach which I appreciate because beating around the bushes doesn’t change things.

For the first time my reactions to food has become logic and it has been such a relief. A lot of the problems I’ve, which danish doctors have denied exist or just made mental is now connected to problems with my immune system and digestion and by eating the right diet and supplements it’s already changing.

Beside that for the first time I’ve been taught how to train my body after my body constitution and it makes so much sense and it’s a huge relief to hearing a person telling me what I’ve sensed on many areas but was told was just because I had to get into the habit and ignore the signal.

The first he did was making some adjustments to my diet and putting me on two supplements which strengthens the immune system and digestion.

Then he helped me get more grounded. The life I’ve had since 2011 has been one big crock pot of stressful experiences so when I arrived to the temple I was exhausted and I had a hard time relaxing and getting a good night sleep. I started using theta-wave music and experimenting with different kinds of meditation. Until a racoon took our pet duck, I had the responsibility for taking care of the duck both according to take time petting her and feeding her and that was major quality time for me.

A bit into my stay Pierre also started speeding up the healing of my nerve lanes in the body (got damaged after a flue in 2011) with CST and DIY ayurvetic oil massage with an oil blend added frankincense and st. johns wort. I got so surprised because when he practice his cranio sakral therapy og energy work this huge man gets so gentle and kind that I felt safe putting my head in his hand and I don’t trust easy.

In the “few” weeks I was on the temple it made a huge difference f.ex. I’ve no more heat flashes going on, I feel more grounded. Beside that I know a lot now and I can handle a lot on my own before I need help and that is so amazing. Pierre has given me new hope that I can get a really good life.

I can highly recommend Pierre Black as a practitioner.

Since I lived at the temple for 45 days I also got to know Pierre in private and as a person I’ve experienced him as direct but also very kind, caring and ready to help people. While I was at the temple I’d a rock to lean on and that was a huge gift to just being able to let go of the usual life for 45 days and being able to concentrate on getting the foundation for my life started in a good way.
